DaffSeek is a daffodil query system sponsored by the American Daffodil Societyfor the purpose of providing useful information and photos to ourInternet visitors.  DaffSeek currently has about 18,000 data records for daffodil varieties.   There are over 14,000 photographs in the database, so the system provides a means to identify many daffodils visually.  Photos were contributed by 170 photographers throughout the world representing 15 countries.   Therefore, the photo you see may have been taken of a flower growing in Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, the Netherlands, the United States, or many other countries.  In some cases, there are multiple photos for each daffodil.

DaffSeek.org would like to thank our many contributing photographers for the use of their photos. Each photo is copyrighted by the original photographer. Use of these photos is restricted to DaffSeek unless the photographer gives you his or her permission to use a photo for other purposes. We ask that you respect the photographers' copyrights. To request permission for use of a photo, please email the DaffSeek Administrator.

Quick Start

Below are a few steps to get you started. The data in DaffSeek is a combination of information you would normally find in a copy of the ADS publication 'Show and Grow' and when available, there may be seed and pollen parent data. We hope there will be one or more photos of the daffodil you are searching for.

The DaffSeek Query screen has eighteen fields you can use to customize your query. To quickly build a query, there are six primary dropdown boxes and two radio buttons.

To find a unique daffodil, when you do not know the entire name:

1.  In 'Flower Name', key in the part of the flower name you know such as 'dream' and press the enter key or click on the 'Submit Query' button on the bottom.

2.  You will see a list appear

3.  Click on the blue words 'American Dream'.

4.  You will see the detail information and small photos.

5.  Click on one of the photos to enlarge it, in fact, click twice as it has two sizes.

6.  To go back to the list of 61 items, click on the green 'Back to List' button.

7.  If you do not want to go back to the list, but look for another daffodil, click on the blue bar 'Enter a New Query'

8.  Your previous query you entered will be displayed in the screen, so if you want to refine your original search, leave the word 'dream' in Flower Name and put a 'Y' in Perianth.

9.  You will see a list of items that have 'dream' in the name and yellow anywhere in the perianth (petals).

10. 'American Dream' is printed in green since you have already looked at this entry.

11. Anytime you want to remove the contents on the query form to build a new query, click on the gold button at the bottom of the form 'Clear Form'

1.  Use the 'Special Classes' drop down box and select 'ADS Miniatures List'.

1.  Use the 'Special Classes' drop down box and select 'ADS Intermediates List'.

To see the New Zealand Miniatures List:

1.  Use the 'Special Classes' drop down box and select 'New Zealand NDS Miniatures List'.
